Student Government Association (SGA) hosts its annual welcome-back-to-school organization fair in early September in the center of campus, behind the Student Center. With over 200 student clubs, intramural sports and club sports on campus, this is always an afternoon of excitement for students of all years and majors.

Fall 2023, welcome to Rowan’s first marching band – real sunset, no filter or Photoshop!

We suggest expanding your horizons and remembering that everyone is new, every organization is hoping for new members, and you don’t need to be experienced to join a club or sport. Fly solo or grab a new friend – there is zero reason to feel awkward. Everyone is living their best post-Covid socially awkward lives right now and you’re in good company. Do not skip this event! It typically runs from 11 am to 3 pm.

Typically, over 50 tables represent dozens of organizations that students can get involved with on campus. From academic societies to activity clubs to sports to Greek life, there really is something for everyone!

Greek life has changed since the days of Animal House. There’s still an emphasis on fun, but now there is more oversight, a focus on safe fun, and growing to become a well-rounded person and campus leader. Read about some of our Greek life members’ campus involvement – you’ll be impressed.

Think about what you’re hoping to get out of your college experience. Is now the time you want to lean more into environmentalism? We have a beekeeping club, ReWild Rowan to bring more native plants to campus, a community garden and so much more.

“It’s cool to see all of the different ways I can get involved outside of class,” says junior Darrah McClendon, a communications studies major from Plainsboro (Middlesex County).

Many students share that college is the first time in their lives that they can live authentically, and we have numerous LGBTQIA+ organizations. Read some of their stories of their campus involvement!

Being a part of extracurricular activities beyond the classroom not only introduces you to new friends with similar interests and hobbies, but can lead to great opportunities in the future. “Being a part of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) really strengthens my resume and is a great way to gain more experience in my career field,” says Kim Herrera, a junior public relations/advertising double major from Belleville (Essex County). “I’ve made a lot of friends through the organization.”

Jacob Hellick, a freshman graphic design major from Pilesgrove, Salem County, is most “looking forward to finding cool groups of people who like the same things as me,” and came to the organization fair to find just that. “There are so many options, I almost don’t know which clubs I should choose!” he says.

With music, candy and excited chatter throughout the day, this is one of our favorite events of the year!
