TRANSFERmation Tuesday: Hannah Marcellina

Meet transfer student Hannah Marcellina, a junior radio/TV/film and theatre major who commutes from Williamstown, New Jersey (Gloucester County).

What wakes you up in the morning?
There is a great sense of community and support at Rowan. It is such a good feeling knowing that not only do I have friends here that genuinely want me to succeed, but professors too. As a double major, it is so easy to get overwhelmed. They make it so easy to find the motivation to get through each day.

How would you tell a fellow student interested in your major that they’re choosing a worthwhile field?
I didn’t realize how rewarding being a theatre major could be until transferring to Rowan. You can always count on the students and faculty in this department to lift you up when you fall flat on your face, and cheer you on when you fly. The same thing could be said for radio/TV/film. Whether you come in with tons of knowledge about editing, engineering, etc., or knowing nothing at all, the department will give you the tools you need to succeed.

Could you share with us one moment that made you feel inspired or confident that you’re in the right field for you?
Last semester I was in Voice For The Stage with Michael Dean Morgan. At different points in the semester we had learned and performed 3 very different monologues. For our final, we had to perform all 3 in a row. Being in a performing arts major, it is very easy to feel intimidated because you’re surrounded by very talented people all day. There were certainly times after performing where I felt less-than-spectacular. After the amazing guidance from my professor and classmates, I finished my final feeling on top of the world. I was so proud of myself. It was the most reassuring moment I have felt since coming to Rowan.
