My Favorite Places to Eat at Rowan University

A Campus Resident’s Insight on Food at Rowan

Carly Del Borrello, a junior public relations major from Williamstown, NJ (Gloucester County) shares this first-person perspective about dining options on campus.

One of the most intimidating parts about choosing a college is researching the food options on campus. Let’s be realistic, food is a deciding factor. No one wants to go to a school and eat basic cafeteria food every day for the next four years. Luckily, Rowan University has countless options with a wide variety of foods for all current students and future Profs to enjoy!

First, and most importantly, coffee. There are several different spots to get coffee on campus, but my personal favorites are Peet’s Coffee and Saxbys. Both places have a broad menu, including fun, delicious drinks, and food options. Peet’s Coffee is located in the pit of the Student Center and Saxbys is in the Business Hall. If you aren’t a coffee person, don’t let this discourage you from trying these spots. There are teas and other creative drinks available on the menus. I am 100% an iced coffee person no matter the time of year and trust me, it’s delicious! I think one of the key ways to tell if a coffee place is good is if they can nail the basics and Peet’s and Saxbys does not disappoint. I definitely recommend ordering ahead of time using the GrubHub app because the line can get a little backed up! Keep in mind that you’ll need the GrubHub app to order from any dining locations on campus but don’t worry, you can easily attach your meal plan if you have one!

The Student Center is the main place to get dining on campus, but there are options in other buildings as well. As I previously mentioned, the business hall has Saxbys, the engineering hall has Einstein Bros Bagels, and Holly Pointe Commons offers its own dining area. The Student Center is located in the heart of the campus The Marketplace is Rowan University’s very own food court. There are options ranging from breakfast, pizza, Latin, Asian, smoothies, and of course allergy-friendly options. These dining options are located on the first floor of the student center. The Marketplace is open Monday through Friday, 7 am to 11 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 11 pm. My go-to places in The Marketplace are Chef Jet, BRKFST & Co., Crust, and Freshens. Freshens is more of a light option with salads, rice bowls, wraps, smoothies, and grilled flatbreads. BRKFST & Co. offers all-day breakfast options such as waffles, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, omelets, and more. I am a firm believer in breakfast for dinner and BRKFST & Co. never disappoints. Freshens and BRKFST & Co. are my first choices when I’m feeling picky or just want something fast and easy. Crust sells pizza, pasta, and subs and this place is a staple on Rowan’s campus. You can’t go wrong with pizza! Last but certainly not least, Chef Jet. Chef Jet is one of my favorite places to eat at Rowan. It offers a variety of Asian food that’s simply delicious.

Even though the options in the Student Center and in various Rowan buildings are great choices, I totally understand that sometimes you can get bored with the same options. Beyond what I mentioned, there are chain restaurants and other available dining in the Glassboro area, extremely close to Rowan as well as all of the choices on Rowan Boulevard. Rowan Boulevard is home to some of the best restaurants on campus. You are only a few steps away from Chickie’s & Petes, Playa Bowls, LaScala’s Fire, Alumni Grill, Landmark Americana, Oishii Ramen, and so much more.

Don’t let dining stress you out. Life as a college student can be stressful enough, there’s no reason your food should be too! Rowan University gives its students countless choices with their meals so eating three meals a day is easy and enjoyable here.
